      Core Commitment: ProText is 100% local-first and private by design. Your messages, contacts, notes, and preferences are stored exclusively on your device in your browser's local database. We operate zero external tracking or collection servers.
    

1. Data Collection & Transmission

ProText does not collect, transmit, share, or sell any personal data:

No Remote Servers: ProText has no analytics servers, cloud databases, or tracking endpoints. Zero packets containing your communications leave your machine.
No Telemetry or Analytics: We do not track pageviews, user actions, conversation counts, or messaging frequency.
No Advertising: ProText is 100% ad-free and contains no affiliate trackers or monetized data brokers.

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is saved inside your browser's sandboxed IndexedDB storage and never leaves your computer:

3. Chrome Extension Permissions

ProText adheres strictly to Google's Minimum Permissions Policy:

storage: Used to preserve your local themes, notes, and feature toggles between browser sessions.
https://messages.google.com/web/*: Required to display the ProText toolbar, theme overlay, and message safeguards inside Google Messages. ProText cannot access or interact with any other website.

4. Data Ownership & Deletion

You have absolute control over all your data:

Exporting: Open ProText Settings → Data Backup & Sync to download a complete .json backup anytime.
Deleting: Clearing site data for messages.google.com or uninstalling the extension immediately wipes all local ProText data permanently.
